The Hoffman company became part of the Harris Watson group in 2005.  It is based in Stamford USA and manufactures test
equipment that is used to measure, with precision, very low levels of
illumination.  Hoffman also manufacture lighting products and lighting
components.  They offer the service of testing the illumination of lighting products or reflecting products.  These products and services tend to centre on aerospace related industries but not exclusively.

For over 40 years, Hoffman Engineering has supported the photometric needs of the automotive industry. Gonio-photometric and production test stations are available for testing the luminous intensity distribution of headlamps, tail lamps, and all exterior automotive lighting as well as the efficiency of retro-reflective devices.

Hoffman Engineering provides test equipment to evaluate the complete night vision device system. The ANV-126 Test Set is a field portable instrument operating from an internal, rechargeable battery. The ANV-126 is unique in its ability to quantify parameters formerly left untested, and has gained worldwide acceptance as the tool to accurately evaluate devices in the field.

Hoffman's LM-33-52 Contrast System is designed for testing as required by MIL-L-85762. This system consists of a direct light source focusing 10,000 foot-candles at 5000° Kelvin on the display surface.
