AGI Upgrade Wind Sensors at London Airports

AGI Upgrade Wind Sensors at London Airports

Tuesday 20th April 2010

AGI’s Met Business Unit has won an order to replace mechanical wind sensors with ultrasonic wind sensors at Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow airports. The order from National Air Traffic Services (NATS) was an upgrade to the existing AGI supplied surface wind systems.

The ultrasonic wind sensors will enable each of the airports to reduce their annual maintenance and support costs.

The order follows a year long trial of the ultrasonic sensor at Heathrow airport, which proved that its output matched and exceeded the mechanical wind sensors performance.
